My mom recorded this movie for my sisters and I to watch. I didn’t think I would like this movie, but it turned out to be one of our favorite movies. The movie is about Mexican-American singer and songwriter Selena Quintanilla-Perez. The movie is a biography of her life, and how she came to be so famous. Selena’s father, Abraham, was in a small band when he was growing up, but the band ended when he started a family. Music was always important in their family, and Abraham decided to start a band with his children. Selena was the lead singer, her brother Abraham played guitar, and her sister played the drums. They liked playing music, but hated the band. Soon they became very famous amongst Latinos, because they sang in Spanish. The movie shows their journey to the big time, and struggles they had along the way. The movie also shows family feuds, like when Selena started to like the new bad boy guitarist, Chris. Abraham hated him, which caused a huge family rift that caused Selena and Chris to elope. Other family struggles are about what Selena chose to wear in concerts; she designed all of her clothes. She soon open a boutique that was managed by her best friend, and president of her fan club. I like the whole movie, but my favorite part would probably be when Selena’s bus got stuck. My sisters and I thought that part was hilarious, and we randomly quote that part of the movie. If you haven’t seen this you are really missing out. It DEFINITELY won’t be a waste of your time to watch this movie.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Rookie of the Year. The movie is about a 12 year old, Henry, who falls on his arm during a little league game. When his arm healed it didn’t heal correctly, and it caused him to have amazing pitching abilities. He could throw the ball faster than any pitcher in major league baseball. He is soon recruited to join the Chicago Cubs because their pitcher was getting old and struggling. He joins the team, and is in awe of everything. He help the Cubs go from a team with no fans and no winning streak to a team that is sold out every game and a long winning streak. He goes on the road with his team, and learns the ways of the game from his newfound friend, teammate, and mentor, the pitcher. He becomes a great pitcher, and can strike almost everyone out. It seems like a great life right? He starts to lose his friends because he never sees them, and he misses a lot of school. Baseball was his first priority so he didn’t have time to be a kid anymore. I don’t even know what my favorite part of this movie is because there is so many. Rookie of the Year is really funny, so it is great to watch whenever you are in a bad mood; you can’t stay mad after watching it. I like the story line of the movie because I think it was encouraging, a boy who is awful at little league turns out to be an amazing major league player. If you haven’t seen the movie you are missing out, and should see it ASAP!

Dolphin Tale is one of my absolute favorite movies. I love dolphins, and have loved them my whole life. Dolphin Tale is about a young dolphin who got stuck in a fishing trap; the dolphin washed up on shore where an older man found her. She was rescued and brought to Clear Water Marine Aquarium where they healed her, and named her Winter. Unfortunately because of the lack of circulation to her tail, it became injured. Her tail had to be taken off for her to survive. After that she was unable to swim, and needed constant attention. Sawyer, the boy who helped her when she was on the beach, was Winter’s best friend. He would skip summer school everyday to go to the aquarium. Soon Winter learned how to swim, but since she didn’t have a tail she swam by moving her tail side to side. That caused damage in her spine, so their thought was to make an artificial tail for her. My favorite parts in the movie are when Winter, Sawyer, and Hazel are swimming and floating in the water. Even though Winter is a dolphin she has a floaty to float on. Some of my other favorite parts are when she trys on all the tails, and the ending carnival. Hazel and Sawyer organize a carnival and see Winter day to raise money for the bankrupt aquarium. People come from all over to see Winter which raises enough money. Winter is my favorite character, but Roofus is also really cool. I think this movie is a great movie, and I would strongly recommend watching it. The movie is very motivational in my opinion. Ever since I watched that movie it was a dream of mine to see Winter in person, and when I went to Florida I got to see her. When we got there I saw her right away, but then they put her in a different pool, and brought out Hope, which was still cool, but I wanted to see more of Winter.

Famous for the quote, “You’re killing me Smalls,” the Sandlot is a movie about 10-13 year olds that play baseball; it was made in 1993. The movie is about a nerdy boy who moves to a new town. He doesn’t know anyone in the town, but one day stumbles across the baseball field. Kids are playing and soon one ball is skyrocketing towards him, after attempting to catch and throw the ball back towards him he is accepted on the team. After that he goes to the old, worn down field to play baseball everyday. The have a very makeshift team compared to their rival team, who is very prepping, have a nice field, and matching uniforms, but -spoiler alert- they beat their rival team. The team becomes the best of friends, whether that means going to the carnival together, or throwing up in the trashcan after the spinning ride together. They also face their fears together to get the ball signed by Babe Ruth back from the viscous monster on the other side of the fence. The ending of the movie turns out to be very good, even thought they may not have gotten the ball back they got a better one with all the names of the Yankees on it. I really like this movie because I think it has a good story line. I like the parts are when they are playing baseball, and at the carnival, but my favorite part is when they are trying to get the Babe Ruth ball back. So pretty much, I like the whole movie.

She’s The Man is one of my favorite movies. It is about a girl who pretends to be her brother at his boarding school, so he doesn’t get in trouble for skipping. Her school didn’t start until the time he was supposed to get back from his “vacation”, and the soccer team at her school got cut, so it was perfect for her to go. She dressed and acted like a guy the whole time she was there, and at the same time she tried out for the soccer team. Eventually she started liking “her” roommate. I suggest watching this movie if you haven’t seen it already. It is a good movie that I enjoy watching because I don’t have to think at all when I am watching it.

Instant Family is a newer movie; it only came out in 2018. I went to the movie theater to see it, and I think it is a great movie. The movie is about a couple who decides to become foster parents, so they go through the classes. When they pick a family to become foster parents for they are very excited, but don’t know the challenges that are ahead of them. Throughout the movie the family faces challenges, but they eventually grow together, and start liking each other. Then the kids real mother comes, and wants her kids back. In my opinion the movie is really cool because you get to see what it would be like to foster a family. This movie, like most other movies, has a good ending. In my opinion this is a funny movie that is definitely worth the time to watch, maybe even more than once.

The Little Mermaid was one of my favorite movies growing up. Ariel was, and still is, my all time favorite Disney Princess. The movie was released in 1989. In case you haven’t seen it, The Little Mermaid is about a young mermaid who doesn’t like her fathers rules, and doesn’t like not being able to explore. Ariel is a very curious and adventurous mermaid who often gets in trouble. Her father, King Triton, has a lot of rules for their family, and tries to keep everyone safe, but Ariel pushes her limits a lot. One of her favorite hobbies is collecting things from the land above that were lost at see. One day she witnesses a ship accident, and saves someone from on board. She pulls the man to the shore. After that it is her wish to go ashore and meet him, and she gets that wish, but it costs her her voice. She falls in love with the man, who is Prince Eric, but has to be kissed by him before three days are up. When I was a little kid I thought that it would be so cool to be a mermaid, so that might be why Ariel is my favorite princess. If you haven’t seen the movie I strongly recommend watching it.

When I was growing up I never watched TV, I only watched movies. We have a ton of movies at my house: old, new, action, Disney, comedy, chick flick. I love watching watching movies, and in my free time, if I have any, that is one thing I would do. I don’t care if it is the first time I have seen a movie or the hundredth, I still enjoy watching it.
